1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

For information on how to continue this program virtually while the library is closed, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free program that encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters 5 year old Kindergarten – a goal experts say will help children learn to read for themselves.

Plymouth Public Library offers three ways for your family to record your reading:

  • Pick up reading logs at the library’s service desk.
  • Print your own logs from home using the PDF files below.
  • Download the 1000 Books app.

If you are already registered at the Plymouth library for the 1000 Books program, you can start printing your reading log or download the app.

If you have not yet registered for the program, view the informational flyer linked below and visit the library to get signed up.

Virtual Options While the Library Is Closed

Missing the library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program? If you have been filling out your paper reading sheets or your 1000 Books reading app, you can still turn in your records and receive new reading sheets.

Turning in paper reading logs?
Clearly write your child’s first and last name on the reading log as well as your first and last name.

Mail your completed logs to the library:
Plymouth Public Library

Or email a photo of your log to the library at plref@monarchlibraries.org.

Turning in progress on the 1000 Books app?
Take a screen shot of your device’s screen and email the photo to the library at plref@monarchlibraries.org. Make sure to include in the email your child’s first and last name as well as your first and last name.

Need new paper reading logs?
The library can mail you new reading logs, or you can print logs from the library’s website.

Via mail: When you mail in your completed paper reading log, let us know that you want the library to mail you the next reading log. Make sure to provide the library with your mailing address.

Print your own logs: View the PDF files of the reading logs located above on this webpage.

Want to receive the sticker that your child has earned?
No matter whether you are turning in paper reading logs or the 1000 Books app, if you want your child to receive a sticker in the mail for completing their reading, let us know and provide your mailing address. We will be happy to send out a sticker to you. At this time, the library is not mailing out the coloring book & crayon prizes or the book prizes. We can give those prizes to you when you return to the library or include them in one of your curbside deliveries.
